We recently completed a comprehensive exterior renovation for a client in the SG8 area. The goal was to replace the tired brick facade with a high-performance, aesthetically pleasing solution that would improve energy efficiency and curb appeal.
The Challenge
The original brickwork required a modern update, and the homeowner wanted to improve the home’s insulation. Working across the front-facing and side elevations, we needed to ensure a seamless finish around existing windows and doors while maintaining strict safety standards.
Our Solution
Our team executed a multi-stage installation process to ensure long-term durability and weather protection:
- Preparation & Safety: Set up professional access equipment to ensure all work was carried out safely and responsibly. We began by removing the old front barge boards and side fascia.
- Thermal Upgrade: Installed 25mm Celotex-type insulation between battens to significantly reduce heat loss through the walls.
- Weatherproofing: Applied a dual layer of Tyvek-type breather membrane to protect the structure from moisture while allowing the building to “breathe.”
- Precision Cladding: Installed Hardie® Plank Cladding in a contemporary light grey. This fiber-cement product is known for its fire resistance and low maintenance.
- Ventilation & Finishing: Fitted vent starter trims, corner profiles, and head vent covers to ensure proper airflow behind the cladding.
- The Details:
- Extended window sills with woodgrain mahogany covers to match the existing frames.
- Applied “Black Jack” bitumen coating below the DPC (Damp Proof Course) for maximum moisture protection at ground level.
- Full sealant and trim finish to industry-leading standards.

The property has been completely revitalised. Beyond the stunning new look, the combination of premium insulation and Hardie Plank cladding provides the homeowner with a warmer, more energy-efficient home that is built to withstand the elements for decades.
